Top Convention Speakers Use Visual Aids

Convention speakers use visual aids to enhance a presentation and keep the eyes of the audience facing forward.

Convention speakers know that no matter how good a speech is, there will come a time when audience members begin to drift. They stop concentrating on what is being said and their eyes begin to wander. You can usually spot this moment; it is the time when individuals in the audience begin to shuffle about. One way to avoid this is to cut your presentation short, but this is not always possible. A sure-fire way to ensure that your audience remains focused on you is to use the following visual aids during your speech.

PowerPoint Presentation

If you have access to a computer and projector, you can’t go wrong with a PowerPoint presentation to summarize what you are saying. Make sure that you keep it short and sweet, bullet points rather than an essay on the screen. Also consider pictures; a mixture of informative and humorous images can ensure that the audience will be watching your presentation even if they are struggling to listen to your speech.

Flip Chart

If you don’t have access to a computer, or you are in a smaller venue then convention speakers say that it is worth considering a flip chart during your presentation. Bullet pointing, flow charts and diagrams can be very useful in giving your audience a concise summary of your speech, and will enable them to follow what you are saying far more easily.

If all else fails, placing a leaflet that outlines your speech on every chair will give the audience members something to peruse during your speech.

Convention speakers say that it is vital to make sure that you don’t lose your audience. Visual aids will help them to keep track of what you are saying.
