This means, how employees interact with their tasks will affect the general productivity in the workplace. The way in which employees approach and execute a task will also impact productivity. In the workplace, there are many distractions that might cause an employee to be less productivity.


The mailbox is important for every employee, mainly because it is the port of communication with management and customers, as well. Therefore, there is a temptation to check the email frequently, in case something important has popped in while they were working on something else. You find that during a task, employees check and respond to emails and as a result this will distract them from what they are supposed to be doing and the task will take much longer to complete than it might have otherwise.


Sometimes not all calls are important and need to be attended to right away. As an effective employee, you need to have a time when you don’t respond to the phone and focus mainly on the tasks you have to do.

In the end, you will be able to increase your productivity in the workplace if you learn to avoid these problems. Check your email only once an hour or so and ask a co-worker to take your calls when you really need to concentrate on an important task.
