When you know you’ve done something great, and someone in your life takes the time to tell you how well you did, they don’t expect you to hide your pride. On the other hand, no one likes a bragger, so you needn’t go overboard with praising yourself either.
Accept praise with humility, say thank you for the compliment, and try to keep doing what you’re doing well. Don’t get embarrassed when you get a pat on the back, but don’t use that pat on the back to get out of doing any more work for a while either.
It is important that you don’t get too full of yourself and forget to keep going after the prize. But also make sure that you don’t dismiss praise as undeserved, or give that impression to the person giving the compliment.
If you’ve done well, you deserve to be recognized, and no one should diminish the moment for you, not even yourself. If someone pays you a compliment on a job well done, you probably earned it, and they want you to know that they noticed. Don’t over-think it or tell them where you went wrong.
