Questioning Leads to Understanding

Andy Core is an expert in Work-Life Balance, Wellbeing, and Peak Human Performance.

child questionSome of the greatest minds in the world make a habit of doing the same thing- asking questions. We have a short time on this earth, and if we aren’t constantly curious, then we aren’t truly engaged. With so many viewpoints, cultures and ways of understanding the world, to assume that we have conquered understanding is to severely limit our development.

I try to treat every day as an adventure and appreciate the opportunities I have to explore. I’ve found that this has given me a more meaningful, interesting and fun life.

Especially as I’ve watched my children grow, I have a fresh appreciation for maintaining a childlike sense of wonder. Imagination is the heart of innovation and invention comes from asking questions.

So get in the habit of indulging your curiosity and trying to learn as much as we can to achieve success and know ourselves.

You will never achieve success if you don’t ask questions every step of the way. If you don’t question your actions you won’t know if you are on the right track until it is too late and that could prove to be costly to your ambitions. Questioning your actions and motives will also give you a better understanding of yourself.

Don’t Make Life All about Competition

Bask in the glow of your own successes, and don’t worry about what other people are doing

Bask in the glow of your own successes,
and don’t worry about what other people are doing

A competitive nature can help you to make advances in school, work, sports, and games, but if you make your whole life about competing with others, it will eventually do more harm than good. You are who you are, and no amount of outdoing others will ever change that.

You have to have a great desire to get ahead, but if you find yourself worrying more about what other people are doing than your own actions, or you’re busy trying to keep up with the possessions they have, you may be getting yourself into trouble.

Everyone’s life is different. Financially, emotionally, physically, or any other way, you will never be exactly the same as everyone else. Therefore, you must adjust your personal goals and ambitions to suit yourself and your family. You cannot get caught up in competing with others, or you will eventually lose yourself.

It’s fine to compete with yourself, and try to be better than you were yesterday, but many a life has been ruined by allowing yourself to be driven by jealousy, envy, or trying to be something you’re not. Don’t get caught up in competition, but instead just try to be the best person you can be and keep striving to be satisfied with your own accomplishments.
