You can encourage productivity in the workplace by giving your employees rewards for doing good work or for going above and beyond the call of duty. After all, it’s human nature to want to work hard, and continue working hard, as long as we are being compensated for it. That is exactly the reason why most of our employees are working, anyway.
Giving rewards to your employees doesn’t necessarily mean that you personally will set the recompense each team member will receive. This might actually be a negative, as one team member may think that you’re giving another team member better rewards. Instead, try to build a rewards system that every employee can strive for without bias.
Try to create a rewards system that applauds loyalty. Give your tenured staff cash bonuses depending on how long they have been with the company. You can hand them a trophy of appreciation for all their work. Reserve a parking spot for them. Give them additional vacation days that they can spend with their families. Reward their loyalty to the company, and they will continue working hard for your organization.
You should also, of course, craft a rewards system that honors hard work. Reward employees that always spend additional time working, even when their office hours are over. Give them additional perks, like a free cup of coffee every once in a while. Send them a gift basket or groceries. Or, allow them to pick their own perk or reward depending on a certain set restriction. The freedom of choice is a big motivator for employees to work even harder and improve their productivity in the workplace.
A rewards system is an important aspect in motivating your employees to continue to work harder. You can’t deny that compensating your hard-working employees more than what is written on their paycheck would fuel the fire of your employees to want to strive to improve their productivity in the workplace.
