Self-esteem, according to professional speaker Andy Core, can be one of many things. The main idea behind self-esteem is that it is an in-depth perception that you have of yourself. It is that combination of what you personally are capable of doing and what you think you are worth as a person in relation to society and those around you.
For as long as a person thinks lowly of themselves and their abilities, their self-esteem is not very healthy. Low self-esteem is a self-perception of an individual that is characterized by negative thoughts and feelings, which causes them to think lowly of themselves. When a person has a low self-esteem, among other things, they have little confidence in what they are capable of doing. The professional speaker explains that they expect to fail and often give up without putting much effort into a task.
Overly High Self-Esteem
This is quite the opposite and can be as equally harmful as low self-esteem. Usually, high self-esteem is an illusion of the person in reality. Often when an individual has an inflated high level of self-esteem they often exaggerate everything about themselves. For example, these individuals often think of themselves as superior, often quick to judge others, ignore their incompetence and despise those that criticize them.
