Shift workers make up a huge portion of the employed population, and yet they are often ushered into the background and forgotten about. Not good leadership speakers; they know that shift workers need just as much encouragement in maintaining work-life balance as all other employees. Expert Andy Core tells you why.
Because shift workers don’t follow the same schedule everyday, it can be hard to come up with a plan for work-life balance and stick to it. Activities like going to the gym and grocery shopping tend not to happen at the same time for everyone, so some ways leadership speakers say that this can accommodate is by opening a gym on-site, or making a day care affordable.
Because you may not see shift workers as often as you would other employees, it’s even more important to open up the lines of communication so both sides are in tune with each other. Hold regular meetings, send out newsletters and respond to emails quickly. Shift workers need to feel like they have support when it comes to their own work-life balance programs, and you, as their employer need to be able to provide that.
With a little knowledge, leadership speakers can help shift workers successfully implement their own style of work-life balance.
