A competitive nature can help you to make advances in school, work, sports, and games, but if you make your whole life about competing with others, it will eventually do more harm than good. You are who you are, and no amount of outdoing others will ever change that.
You have to have a great desire to get ahead, but if you find yourself worrying more about what other people are doing than your own actions, or you’re busy trying to keep up with the possessions they have, you may be getting yourself into trouble.
Everyone’s life is different. Financially, emotionally, physically, or any other way, you will never be exactly the same as everyone else. Therefore, you must adjust your personal goals and ambitions to suit yourself and your family. You cannot get caught up in competing with others, or you will eventually lose yourself.
It’s fine to compete with yourself, and try to be better than you were yesterday, but many a life has been ruined by allowing yourself to be driven by jealousy, envy, or trying to be something you’re not. Don’t get caught up in competition, but instead just try to be the best person you can be and keep striving to be satisfied with your own accomplishments.
