Emotional eating isn’t just a myth, rather it is in fact one of the highest occurring conditions affecting the population. To overcome this condition it is crucial that you find ways to exterminate stress and adopt lifestyle habits that will keep you strong physically and emotionally. Even the slightest of negative emotions and sentiments can push you to go on an emotional eating saga. To get you through this condition, the following are a few healthy lifestyle habits that can truly help you deal with your emotions in a positive way instead of eating your heart out.

Get a serotonin boost by exercising daily. Any type of physical activity that raises your heart beat a little will help your body to release serotonin which is a mood and energy enhancing hormone. Exercise will keep your stress levels to bare minimum and will hence keep you from stuffing your face with food.

Get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. Lack of sleep triggers cravings especially for sweet stuff. Getting in ample rest is essential to keep curb your appetite and to keep those food cravings in check.

Socialize.  Meaningful relationships and social activities can do wonders for an emotional eater. Being surrounded by optimistic people who simply keep your spirits lifted will keep you from the negative effects of loneliness and boredom.
