In order to function properly our bodies require that we maintain an appropriate PH balance. Our body’s PH value is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity level of our bodies and it changes from 0-14. A PH of 0 is known to be purely acidic and a PH of 14 is meant to be entirely alkaline. Scientists concur that our body’s ideal PH level is meant to fall in the range of 6-8.
Maintaining a proper PH balance is vital for the optimal functioning of our body’s metabolism, organs and its immune system. Moreover it also plays its part in promoting healthy bone health. Additionally, sustaining a healthy PH balance is essential for loosing weight.
All foods by nature are either acidic in nature or alkaline. When aiming to lose weight, you have to keep an eye on your body’s acid-alkaline balance. A diet plan that is high in acidic foods is known to promote fat gain. This is because in order to metabolize the excess acid, our bodies have to generate a surplus of fat so as to neutralize the effect. Although a few of the fat cells might get expelled out of our bodies, the residual simply get stored on it. Hence this mechanism caused us to gain weight. Foods that are acidic in nature include grains, refined flours, meats etc. While foods that are alkaline include fruits, vegetables, healthy oils etc.
